Crossy Road Game: Does It End?

Published 2026-10-13

Crossy Road is an endless hopping game. You move one square at a time through traffic, water, and train tracks. This page explains how a run ends and how the score is counted. When you want to play, use the Crossy Road homepage.

Does Crossy Road end?

No. There is no last level, no boss, and no finish line. The game people know from the 2014 Hipster Whale release keeps generating new rows. A higher number is a longer run, not progress toward an ending.

A run stops when a car, a train, or the river catches the character. In the original game, standing still for too long also brings an eagle down to end the run. You start again from the first row. Nothing you passed is saved as a stage.

How one run works

Grass is the row where you can stop and look. Roads carry vehicles at different speeds, and a gap can close while you wait. Rivers move under you: logs and lily pads drift, so the square you aimed at is not still there when you land. Train tracks stay empty until a train fills the whole row.

The steady pattern is to read the next row, hop once, and stop on grass when you have it. A second hop made out of panic is how most runs end.

Controls

On a keyboard, the arrow keys or WASD each move one square. On a touch screen, swipe in the direction of the hop. Forward is the scoring move. A step left, right, or back is only there to leave a bad square.

How the score works

The score counts rows you move forward. Hopping backward does not add to it, and there is no clock bonus at the end because there is no end. To raise the score you need more safe forward hops, not faster tapping.

How to last longer

Watch two rows ahead while you stand on grass. Do not leave a safe row just because the row behind you looks busy. On water, land near the middle of a log so you still have room to correct. On a road, let a fast vehicle pass instead of jumping into the space behind it.

If the eagle is the threat, one hop onto a safe square is enough to reset the wait. Save sideways moves for a real gap. Holding them for a perfect line often leaves you in the lane when the next car arrives.

The playable Crossy Road page on this site is the homepage. It is a browser game, not the official mobile app, and this site is not affiliated with Hipster Whale. Cross That Road and Cuby Road use a similar hop, but they are different games with their own pages.
